AN OVERSEAS scholar and two domestic professionals are the front-runners to become the first "Shenjiang Scholar" at Shanghai Normal University. The three scholars will be granted an annual income of about 350,000 yuan (US$50,890) as well as research funding of 500,000 yuan to 1.5 million yuan in the next five years.
